English Language Study Options
The School of English at Ara is internationally recognised as one of the best English language training centres in New Zealand. Students from more than 30 countries, including residents and citizens of New Zealand, choose to study with us to improve their English. We are an NZQA Category 1 provider and we offer high quality English learning with excellent facilities and highly experienced teachers.
We offer a range of programmes that provide students with English for general purposes, exam preparation or preparation for further academic study. Enrolments are accepted all year round and for some courses, students can start on a weekly basis.
We also offer customised group programmes for groups of students with specific areas of interest.
Number of Students: up to 300 at any time
Class Size: Average 15, maximum 22
Levels: 7 levels (beginner to advanced)
Minimum Age: 17 years old, no maximum age
Study English language speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Depending on your level, you can study General English or Academic English. You may be able to study part-time, depending on the conditions on your visa.
Duration: Minimum 4 weeks; up to 50 weeks
Level: Beginner to advanced
The New Zealand Certificate in English language is an NZQA qualification that can be used for further study, work or general English development.
Duration: 18 weeks, 20 hours per week
Level: Beginner to advanced
Enjoy practising your English and making new friends in the community.
Duration: Eight hours per week
Level: Late Intermediate and above
