Starz Restaurant Timaru
Ara hospitality students in Timaru put their customer service and cooking skills to the test by running a restaurant and bar on campus that caters to paying customers.
Starz Restaurant is open to the public at certain times of the year (see below) and also hosts one-off functions, demonstrations, themed nights and chef’s table dining experiences.
The restaurant prepares students by giving them confidence in a real-world environment and adds to the comprehensive nature of their hospitality education. Menus are developed to support our students’ learning and to offer a selection to tempt the palate of our diners. They include vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options and may change depending on the season and teaching requirements.

We offer a range of dishes including vegetarian options and you can accompany this with a drink from our substantial wine and beverage list.
If you are hosting a function, we can work with you to design a menu specifically for your event.
Starz dates for 2021
The restaurant will be open for dinner on 20, 21, 27 and 28 October from 6pm (last bookings at 7.30pm). The bar opens at 5pm.

Every year we hold a market day where students sell a range of baked items, jams, pickles and chutneys. It’s a great opportunity to stock up the pantry. Date to be confirmed – watch this space.
