Description

The learning outcomes for this course are:

Identify and describe the stages of physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and emotional development from the neonate through to young adulthood.

Critically analyse the factors that affect the health of children and families and how this may impact on their development.

Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate health care which promotes, safety and security which optimises the health of children.

Identify the key aspects of a safe, initial assessment of a child or young person in order to undertake a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive health assessment of the child and their family.

Demonstrate the application of critical thinking, as it relates to a child or young person’s history and physical findings, to ensure timely and appropriate referral.

Discuss the importance of preparing children and their families for recommended procedures.
