With 24 years of experience in management and leadership across public health, community development and both private and local government sectors, Freedom is motivated in building agile teams, sustainable systems and realising potential in others. As the Director of Safety, Health and Wellbeing at Ara Institute of Canterbury, Freedom contributes to the safety and wellbeing of over 8000 students and staff. Freedom led impactful post-disaster psychosocial wellbeing campaigns in New Zealand, including the successful "All Right?" and "5 Ways to Wellbeing" and leveraged her post-earthquake experience and secured financial sustainability and develop programmes and services for vulnerable populations in Melbourne as Executive Officer for DIVRS.
About Dr Helen Marshall
Dr Helen Marshall has worked in tertiary education for nearly 20 years. Her career has included a balance of research and teaching within the health promotion and sports science spaces. Her main research interests include the importance of physical activity for health and environmental physiology. Helen is currently the co-leader for the Bachelor of Applied Science at Ara and coordinates the Health Promotion specialisation within that programme.
