An introduction to Leadership with Jez Curwin

Learning from a high performance environment

What does leadership mean to you? The answer to this question will vary to many different individuals due to personal experiences and opinions. Our workshop facilitator Jez will help guide you through this question to help develop your personal style, drawing on his professional experience in high performance organisations.

Your tutor

Originally from the UK, Jez moved to New Zealand in 2017 with his family to take up the Chief Executive role at Canterbury Cricket here in Christchurch. During his tenure he has overseen significant growth in the commercialisation of the Association, continued development at Hagley Oval, on field success and growth in the Community game while also leading strategic reform in how the game is delivered across the region. He also navigated the impact of COVID and was part of the bidding process that secured the Women’s World Cup Final in Christchurch.

As a career sports administrator Jez has been fortunate to work with elite sporting teams and athletes across rugby, cricket, athletics, rowing and extreme sports, learning from all of the different environments he has been involved with. With a background in marketing and business he cut his teeth at Red Bull UK, had senior leadership roles at Bath Rugby and Somerset County Cricket Club and even ran his own extreme sports start up business.
