Study and Career Preparation - TOA Sports Pathway, Level 3
Gain the academic skills required for higher level study in Te reo or Sports coaching.
This six month programme is designed to build your skills for long term academic and career success by ensuring the essential layers of learning are in place. It covers four core courses relating to Te Reo and Tikanga Māori, the Human Body and Fitness and Training to immerse yourself in language and culture, learn more about the fitness and training and the human body.
This is an excellent option to develop your study skills while exploring language, culture and sports, coaching as future pathways.
It is possible to study part-time up to 2 years.

What if English is not my first Language?
If English is not your first language, we want to make sure that you will be successful in your chosen programme of study.
- Please provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.
- If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, complete an Admission and Enrolment form and Ara will contact you regarding a free assessment.
- If you are not a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident, book an IELTS or other test through the Ara Examination Centre or in your home country.
- IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
- What if I have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance?
- You do not need to provide additional evidence of English Language skills.

Upon successful completion of this programme you can apply for further studies in Te Pokaitahi Reo (Rua) Te Kaupae 3: New Zealand Te Reo Maori (Immersion, Bilingual) or one of the sports, fitness or wellbeing offerings.
